The Student Associates Scheme is for students in Higher Education to gain classroom experience while pursuing their studies. The 2010 SAS scheme at Imperial College gives over 300 students some foundation training and the chance to discover what teaching STEM in local secondary schools is really like; and to work alongside experienced teachers and develop new skills. This scheme aims to develop and encourage partnership with local schools and other HEFCE and STEM initiatives.
